The number of known cases of the coronavirus in the United States surged past 26,000 on Saturday morning as testing expanded and the virus spread. As of Saturday morning, at least 26,900 people across every state, plus Washington, D.C., and three U.S. territories, have tested positive for coronavirus, according to a New York Times database, and at least 348 patients with the virus have died.
